A brain dead mother from British Columbia gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 28 weeks, reports CBC News.

Robyn Benson, 22 weeks pregnant with her first child with Dylan Benson, experienced a "piercing headache" after suddenly throwing up one morning, narrates Dylan at the "Baby Iver Fund" page. It was later discovered that Robyn suffered an irreparable cerebral hemorrhage, rendering her brain dead.

According to Dylan, it was decided that his wife's body be kept alive "until she is at or near 34 weeks pregnant" to give their unborn child, Iver Cohen Benson, a greater chance of surviving.

However, 28 weeks and one day into her pregnancy, Robyn was scheduled for a C-section to give birth to baby Iver.

"It's earlier than we planned," he said in a report by The Province. "(We) had hoped to get to week 30 before delivering, but we made it as far as we could. On Saturday, when Robyn was 28 weeks and one day, the time was right for us and for Iver."

Robyn reportedly passed away a day after giving birth to baby Iver, says CBC News and Dylan took to Facebook to announce the good and the bad news to families, friends and supporters.

"On Saturday evening, my beautiful and amazing son, Iver Cohen Benson, was born. Iver is healthy and is the cutest and most precious person I have ever met. As to be expected, it will still be a bumpy ride for he and I as he continues to grow under the care of the wonderful staff at the hospital," he wrote.

"On Sunday, we had to unfortunately say goodbye to the strongest and most wonderful woman I have ever met. I miss Robyn more than words can explain. I could not be more impressed with her strength, and I am so lucky to have known her. She will live on forever within Iver, and in my heart," continued Dylan.

He also thanked the outpouring support he and Iver received from individuals worldwide. Dylan sought help through youcaring.com and put up the Baby Iver Fund aimed at raising $36,000 - which he said was one year of his late wife's wages. With 80 days left, the fund-raising has more than quadrupled the $36,000 goal.

"Thank you to each and every one of you for your love, your kind words, and your support during this incredibly difficult time. The shares of this page and the thousands of comments that I have received have helped so much with getting through these past days and weeks. I truly appreciate the love and support from all over the world," he told supporters.
