The latest from the iPhone 6 rumor mill says that the new Apple phone will be all screen and without bezels. A recent report by Korea Herald claims that the upcoming iPhone 6 will be rim-less, according to an unnamed "industry source."

The Korea Herald report mainly provided heads-up with Samsung's Galaxy S5 screen specifications according to their unnamed industry source but added that Apple is allegedly considering the same for the iPhone 6.

"The finger-scanning technology will be available on the bottom left and right sides, and not the entire display," Korea Herald's source said, referring to the S5.

"Scanning fingerprints on the entire screen, which was much talked about recently, will be available in the latter half of this year as there are still technological hurdles to overcome," the source added.

"The source said that Samsung's top rival Apple is also testing a similar prototype sporting a bezel-less screen that features a fingerprint scanner," reports Korea Herald.

Apple has already integrated the Touch ID technology onto the iPhone 5s, but as an unlock feature. Apple's fingerprint sensor is limited to the home button, which is made from sapphire glass.

However, South China Morning Post claims that the iPhone 6 will come with a sapphire glass screen entirely, hinging on unnamed "industry insiders who have seen the prototypes."

"The new iPhone screen will be made entirely from scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, they said. Sapphire crystal, second to diamond as the hardest material, is now used by Apple for its iPhone camera lens cover and touch identification," says South China Morning Post.

With Apple recently acquiring an Arizona sapphire plant which, according to 9to5mac is able to produce 100 to 200 million 5-inch iPhone displays a year, having an all sapphire glass screen enabling fingerprint sensor all over is quite possible, even with Korea Herald's cited "technological hurdles."

Should the iPhone 6 alleged bezel-less screen be truly made of sapphire glass, Apple fans should prepare their wallets as sapphire glass is known to be much more expensive compared to Gorilla glass.
