'Jane the Virgin' Season 2 Spoilers: Britney Spears to Guest Star, Whose Nemesis Will She Play?
Britney Spears confirmed that she will be making a stop at the Marbella hotel in Season 2 of "Jane the Virgin."
The 33-year-old pop icon revealed on Tuesday via Twitter that she will make a guest appearance on the popular comedy sitcom.
"See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue," Spears announced, including stars Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camil in her tweet.
In response, Rodriguez tweeted back at the pop princess, writing: "Literally fell out my chair @britneyspears I can not wait to work with you beauty! I'm covered in goosebumps. This is unreal!!!"
Camil also tweeted about Spears' upcoming appearance, calling it "a great honor," while actor Justin Baldoni wrote on Twitter: "Welcome to the Show @britneyspears!! Please don't be weirded out when you see my #hitmebabyonemoretime poster ;)"
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spears will appear in the fifth episode of the new season as the nemesis of Jane's dad, telenovela star Rogelio De La Vega.
The show's executive producer, Jennie Snyder Urman, also released a statement about the announcement, saying: "We are so thrilled. Personally, after hearing about their long-standing feud (from Rogelio's point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears' side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney."
Earlier this year, Jennie teased that there will be two weddings in the upcoming season, although she didn't reveal who will be getting married. In addition to the two weddings, Urman revealed that Jane will decide whether she wants to be with the father of her child, Rafael, or her ex-fiancé, Michael, played by Brett Dier.
"Jane will make a choice with one of the guys, eventually, and we will have a wedding at some point in the season," said the showrunner while speaking to TVGuide. However, this does not necessarily mean that Jane will end up marrying the man she chooses.
"By the fifth episode there's an unexpected marriage of two characters, and that's going to be the first [wedding]," Urman said. "And of course our weddings [will have] big, fun, whimsical set pieces."
Season 2 of "Jane the Virgin" premieres Monday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
