Tracy Morgan is making his first television appearance since the 2014 car accident, which left him in critical condition, on the platform that helped launch his career.

According to Variety, Morgan will make his first television appearance on Oct. 17. Morgan will be serving as a host on season 41 of the comedy skit show "Saturday Night Live."

The announcement was made on Aug. 17 on the SNL Twitter account. The tweet featured an image showing the schedule and the names of the first three hosts, which included Morgan, for the upcoming season.

Morgan served as an SNL cast member for seven seasons. This will be the second time that the comedian and "30 Rock" star serves as host for the show, reported Fox News. The actor has kept a very low profile while recovering from the 2014 car accident that killed his friend and fellow comedian James McNair.

"He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point," Morgan's publicist told ABC News back in July 2014. "He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery."

The comedian was followed by paparazzi several times during his recovery, and during one exchange was asked about his condition, to which Morgan replied, "I'm OK, I feel strong." The actor was applauded by paparazzi when they saw him using a walker to get around, and he replied to their praise with, "Love you, thank you very much. Appreciate it."

Other celebrities revealed to host SNL included comedian Amy Schumer and singer Miley Cyrus, who will kick off the new season by hosting the first episode on Oct. 3. This will be Schumer's first time hosting and the third time that Cyrus serves as host for the show.
