WWE Raw August 17 Results: The Undertaker Lays Out Brock Lesnar; Cena & Rollins Contract Signing
WWE Monday Night Raw in Minneapolis, Minnesota kicked off by hyping the matches for SummerSlam, promoting the WWE Network and announcing that Jon Stewart will be the guest host for the event.
Randy Orton and Cesaro vs. Sheamus and Kevin Owens
This tag team match featured SummerSlam opponents. Owens and Sheamus controlled the match, keeping Orton down. "The Viper" tagged in Cesaro and "The Swiss Superman" unleashed on "The Celtic Warrior." Orton got the tag and won with an RKO to Sheamus.
Harper controlled most of the match, hitting a boot to the face of Reigns for a near fall. Reigns got his momentum back and hit the Superman Punch, followed with a Spear for the win.
Tamina Snuka (with Naomi and Sasha Banks) vs. Becky Lynch (with Paige and Charlotte)
Paige celebrated her birthday by supporting PCB teammate, Lynch. Tamina was in control early on, but Becky countered a Samoan Drop and applied her Dis-Arm-Her submission for the win.
Rusev (with Summer Rae) vs. Mark Henry
Henry controlled the match with bodyslams on Rusev, but "The Bulgarian Brute" shoved Henry into the ring post outside. He hit a superkick and locked in The Accolade for the submission win.
After the match, Summer Rae attacked Lana, prompting the return of Dolph Ziggler. "The Show Off" super kicked Rusev. Ziggler and Rusev were made official for SummerSlam later.
The Miz got a bit of offense at the start, but Ryback came back with a devastating Meathook Clothesline. He finished The Miz quickly with a Shellshock finisher.
Contract Signing for the Winner Takes All Match
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon facilitated the contract signing. Before signing, Seth Rollins bragged about his accomplishments including breaking Cena's nose.
Cena came out and got in Rollins' face. The U.S. champion said that he would break Rollins' arms, knees or nose as a payback. Cena promised that he would make Rollins his bitch at SummerSlam.
The Prime Time Players and Lucha Dragons vs. The New Day (with Xavier Woods) and Los Matadores
This match is an eight-man tag with Titus O'Neil hitting Woods, who was on the apron. The match went into chaos as Kalisto hit a springboard hurricanrana on one of the Matadores for the win.
Nikki had the match early, hitting the Alabama Slam. She went for the Rack Attack, but Naomi distracted the Divas champion. Banks capitalized, hitting the Back Stabber into the Banks Statement submission.
Main Event: Brock Lesnar Homecoming
Lecknar's hometown crowd cheered the former UFC and WWE Heavyweight champion. Paul Heyman hyped all the accomplishments of "The Beast."
The homecoming was cut short by The Undertaker. He kicked Lesnar in the groin then hit a Chokeslam. The Undertaker grabbed Lesnar again and nailed a Tombstone Piledriver in the center of the ring to end the show.
