After five seasons on cable network Syfy, "Haven" has officially been cancelled.

This follows a decent increase in performance on the cable network within key demographics on the fourth season, but numbers slid in the fifth season. It was also the first show to be developed for the network in the U.S.

"Haven" was based off the novella by Stephen King titled "The Colorado Kid" and features Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour in the lead roles, according to Deadline.

Rose played FBI agent Audrey Parker, whose own mysterious past blends in with that of the town she is sent to. She arrives in a small domestic village in the state of Maine to investigate an incident that involves a prison fugitive. Upon her arrival though, strange occurrences happen that eventually cause her to spend more time in the town.

According to the IMDb, Parker had no real identity. She had no past, no family and no known point of origin. Brought up in an orphanage, she has no one to come home to or confide in. This deeply immerses her in her work and causes her to yearn for answers.

She soon finds out that the town she'd just entered was the missing link that she has been looking for. The town harbors its own secrets and it is possible that her own point of origin could be right there in front of her eyes.

That premise alone led her character to headline the show throughout the past five seasons, which included a 26-episode order for season five that was divided into two parts, as reported by Deadline. Cable shows are usually only 10-13 episodes, so that gigantic order was a little off the chart.

The first part of Season 4 started airing in September last year. The second part of the season will pick back up this October and the remainder will air concurrently.
