Oscar Pistorius Case, Trial & Verdict; Is 'Blade Runner' Going To Prison?
Former Olympics star Oscar Pistorius released a public statement this month in what was perhaps the most ironic time he could possibly speak out -- right in the middle of the Olympic games.
Pistorius, who rose to fame after enjoying great success as a paralympian, is currently out on bail as he awaits his fate after killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, last year in a horrifying overnight shooting on Valentine's Day at the track star's home in Pretoria, South Africa.
"No words can adequately capture my feelings about the devastating accident that has caused such heartache for everyone who truly loved -- and continues to love Reeva," Pistorius said. "The pain and sadness -- especially for Reeva's parents, family and friends consumes me with sorrow. The loss of Reeva and the complete trauma of that day, I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
Steenkamp was a very well-known public figure in South Africa -- particularly dating back to her modeling days -- and her relationship with Pistorius seemed to be blooming as the couple often appeared at public events together.
'Blade Runner' has largely and unsurprisingly remained out of the spotlight since the incident last year and he continues to work with his attorneys in an attempt to clear the charges. Pistorius is facing serious murder charges but he has maintained his innocence, claiming that he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder in the crime-stricken African nation.
The star has a history of alleged anger issues and he even crashed his boat at one point, which raised questions about the star's temper and this resurfaced following the death of his girlfriend.
What do you think about this very unusual murder case? Do you think it was indeed an accident or was Pistorius angry over something? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
