Fans of the British super sleuth Sherlock Holmes may soon experience their own adventures with the new Sherlock theme park in Pontsmouth, England, according to International Business Times.

Followers of BBC's Television series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will have to wait until 2016 for the fourth season of the detective series, but with this Pontsmout theme park inspired and dedicated to the character, fans may satiate their craving for the opium-loving genius and his adventures.

Entertainment Wise reports that the park, which costs £25 million or about $42 million to develop, will be all things Sherlock; everything from the world of Sherlock Holmes may be found on the location, with "holograms, re-enactments of various plots and many tie-ins with the legacy of Sherlock."

The man behind the project, Steve Pitt, says, "There are 6.9 million people who search for Sherlock Holmes and [creator] Conan Doyle on Google every month. There is a massive market for this."

Pitt, a Portsmouth Cultural Partnership executive, also notes that the project might create "a massive amount of jobs."

Sherlock Holmes, a fictional character created by writer Arthur Conan Doyle, has long been a favorite among readers across cultures, and across decades. The creation of such a theme park is expected to draw in a wide range of Sherlock fans, from those who have known him only on television, to those who have followed the detective from the novels to the movies.

Even the academics approve of a Sherlock theme park. Dr. Christopher Pittard, who teaches English literature at the University of Portsmouth, may be the first in line when the theme park opens.

He says, "I'm a huge fan of Conan Doyle's work and he has been incredibly influential on the development of crime fiction; this would be a great idea because this is where he created Sherlock Holmes. It's a natural place to have it," according to Enstars.

The third season of Sherlock culminated in a twist involving the super sleuth's archenemy, Moriarty. Entitled, 'His Last Vow' the final episode featured Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton, wherein Holmes had to shoot the villain.

As Holmes is exiled for the murder and is shown leaving the UK, he is recalled back to London because Moriarty has resurfaced, his face being broadcast on every screen all over London. Thus, the lifelong duel between the two geniuses is rumored to continue 2016 on TV.

In the meantime, the theme park, which will start its planning phase in March, may well be available sooner than the BBC series.
