For months now, fans of the hit TV show "Supernatural" have wondered just how the Darkness is going to play out in Season 11, and which fan favorite character will be returning. Theories on that have ranged from John Winchester to Bobby or even Charlie.

Those theories certainly do hold a lot of weight and merit, but executive producer Jeremy Carver spoke with TV Line and gave them a few details as to how the character would be returning.

Apparently, the Darkness will be the main big bad for Season 11, and with its return, the fan favorite character will also be pulled back into the action.

"As responsible as the boys feel for having released The Darkness and how much they personally want to defeat it, they're not going to be able to do it alone," Carver said.

"They're going to have to confront some figures from their past. They're going to have to make some unexpected and unholy alliances involving folks from their past, which will have personal ramifications, as well. Because these are some pretty significant figures from their past."

Given there have already been 10 seasons of the show, the franchise has a lot of characters in its vault it could bring back. All these characters could in some way be dragged in by people they have lost along the way, so it could be difficult to really nail down who it will be.

The show's theme alone allows for anyone to return, dead or not. That being said, it is too quick to assume that the returning character was one of the so-called "good guys." It could very well be a demon they had once killed. It could also be Meg, who in some small way redeemed herself before her demise, even if she was a demon.
