Typically low key Republican candidate Ben Carson has decided to speak up against what he sees as an unrealistic immigration plan put forth by the leading GOP candidate Donald Trump.

As reported in NBC, Carson gave Trump’s plan points for sounding good but assessed it would be too costly and complicated to actually implement.

"It sounds really cool, you know, 'Let's just round them all up and send them back,'" said the 63-year old candidate. "People who say that have no idea what that would entail in terms of our legal system, the costs -- forget about it. Plus, where you gonna send them? It's just a double whammy."

Trump's proposals involve around three suppositions regarding nationhood: that a nation without borders is not a nation, that a nation without laws is not a nation, and that a nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation.

The businessman-turned-politician would have Mexico pay for the border wall, as well as defund all sanctuary cities. Trump's immigration plan would also call for the deportation of an estimated 11 million undocumented workers currently living in the United States.

Trump, who has had no problem attacking politicians and journalists alike, has been quiet on the subject of Carson, who is steadily rising in the polls. Joking about wanting to finally butt heads with Carson on MSNBC's “Morning Joe,” Trump said, "I'm hoping for Ben to really hit me at some point because I love to counter-punch."

If Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, has not been playing the typical political game this is likely due to the fact that he never cared to pursue politics before.

"I have no great ambition quite frankly to do this, but I feel called to do it by a lot of my fellow Americans and the doors are opening," Carson said.
