'Guardians of the Galaxy' Release Date, Cast & Plot Update: Vin Diesel Says 'Cast is So Damn Good’
Vin Diesel reveals how he takes on the role of "Groot" and also praises the film's cast which in his words, "is so damn good."
The actor posted a photo on Facebook, showing off how he extends his 6-foot height to play Groot, "an alien of the species Flora colossus," says Cinema Blend - which simply put, is a walking tree character.
"Wait until you see what James Gunn has done with Guardians of the Galaxy... I was lucky to be able to see so much of it... and I gotta say, the cast is so damn good in this movie... Haha, you will see... August 1st!" posts Vin Diesel.
Vin Diesel also posted a video of himself trying out his stilts on the Fast and Furious Seven set - asking fans, "do I look like a tree?" obviously in reference to his Guardians of the Galaxy character.
The actor's character has "the ability to change his size and can absorb wood to become even stronger than he is naturally," notes Cinema Blend. In fact, Groot is the strongest among the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
The Marvel movie gained traction with the release of its trailer on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which gave fans and other curious would-be viewers a glimpse of what's in store.
The film is basically about Peter Quill aka Star-Lord played by Chris Pratt, who according to IMDb, stole an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan the Accuser - a character played by Lee Pace. Cinema Blend adds that Karen Gillan's character, the deadly assassin Nebula is also after Star-Lord - prompting him to join forces with other aliens to form an impromptu team.
The rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy team is composed of Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista), notes Cinema Blend.
The James Gunn-film is slated to hit theaters August 1 but before that, watch the movie's official trailer below.
