"Supergirl" is ushering in a new era in girl power.

CW released a new behind-the-scenes teaser for the upcoming series, with the cast and producers offering their insight on television's new female superhero.

The television series "Supergirl" revolves around Kara Zor-El, Superman's younger cousin who makes her way to Earth after Krypton gets destroyed. She gets taken in by the Danvers family until she grows up and embraces her powers to become the protector and hero she is destined to be.

In the three-minute promo dubbed "Meet Supergirl, A New Kind of Hero", the team described Kara as someone that the audience will find much more relatable than some of the better-known superheroes.

"She's a universal character because she's also trying to figure out who she's going to date," Calista Flockhart explained in the video. "Who she's going to have dinner with, what the heck should I wear to dinner and what color of lipstick should I wear and 'Oh, now I have to go save those people from that burning bus.'"

While offering a new perspective on the male-dominated field of superheroes, the new "Supergirl" series is created to be something more than just a girl power story.

"Everyone can find something for them in the show," executive producer Ali Adler said. "It's really a workplace comedy, it's a romantic comedy, it's an action adventure, and it's all helmed by this woman wearing a cape."

Star of the show Melissa Benoist talked about how Kara's background drives her saying, "Her past is so sad and tragic, I think it really informs how she becomes the hero that she is. That's such a beautiful thing about her is that she's so hopeful, this beacon of hope, and she's so hungry to really do good and truly do good."

She concluded, "It's a lot about recognizing your strength and your potential and letting yourself be surprised by what's inside of you."

Melissa Benoist takes the helm as the titular heroine, backed by an impressive cast including Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane, Iddo Goldberg as Red Tornado, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater as yet-to-be-revealed characters.

Although the release date is over a month away, insiders are already expecting "Supergirl" to be a hit, according to Outer Places. The pilot episode leaked online, but awareness ratings of the show remain strong and the audience seems ready to give a new superhero a shot.

"Supergirl" will make its television debut on Monday, Oct. 26, at a special time slot at 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. It will slide to its regular time slot (8:00 to 9:00 p.m.) on Monday, Nov. 2.
