Chicago Blackhawks star forward Patrick Kane is listed on the team's training camp roster and expected at the University of Notre Dame when the team opens training camp on Friday.

The subject of an ongoing sexual assault probe in his hometown of Buffalo, New York, CSN Chicago reports speculation has been building concerning Kane's standing with the defending Stanley Cup champs and whether or not if he would be welcomed when they opened camp.

The 25-year-old Kane has not been criminally charged with anything, and a grand jury hearing initially scheduled for Sept. 8 was recently postponed, fanning rumors Kane and his accuser might be working out the detailts on a potential settlement.

The alleged assault reportedly took place at Kane's Hamburg estate and involved a woman he met at a downtown bar that same night, later taking her and a female friend of hers to his mansion to continue the party. Once there, the woman told authorities Kane "overpowered" and assaulted her.

Recently, Kane's agent Pat Brisson told Canada's SportsNet Kane proclaims his innocence, and he totally believes in his client's innocence.

"The hardest part is seeing people jumping at conclusions -- he's done this, he's done that -- it's been, what, a month? Five weeks? I just can't wait for him to get back to his life," he said.

Still, with so much hanging in the balance, some are surprised the Hawks would allow the man the team recently signed to an eight-year, $84 million extension to remain such a central part of team activities. According to CSN Chicago, Blackhawks president John McDonough, general manager Stan Bowman and coach Joel Quenneville are all scheduled to meet with the media on Thursday and address the situation of the organization's troubled young superstar.

Over the last three seasons, Kane has averaged 26 goals and 36 assists and 62 points per season, leading the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup titles in six seasons.
