Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, visited "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday, where he was confronted about his views on gay marriage and immigration reform.

Select members of the crowd boo'd him when he stated some of his conservative beliefs. But he stood firm on his views while stating that American citizens will only see change if they go to the ballot box to vote for the leader that will keep their promises.

"Live within our means, stop bankrupting our kids and grandkids, and follow the Constitution and no gay marriage," Cruz said adding that the Supreme Court should have left the decision on marriage to the states.

The GOP hopeful took to Twitter on Tuesday to share the interview with his followers and to remind citizens what will happen if he becomes the next president.

"It's real simple -- we'll kill the terrorists, we'll repeal Obamacare, and we'll defend the Constitution," he tweeted. Cruz continues to say he defends the Constitution when stating his conservative views on same-sex marriage.

Cruz also stands behind the Immigration Slush Fund Elimination Act that would stop the Department of Homeland Security from funding services for undocumented immigrants seeking "amnesty."

Colbert drilled Cruz about his immigration stance stating that even former President Ronald Reagan, which Republicans look up to, wanted at one point to fund undocumented immigration amnesty programs.

Cruz was the first Republican to announce his presidential campaign and now is competing against 15 other GOP candidates for the ticket. He joked that a dozen other Republicans will announce their bid this week.

The senator also joked that he would like to ask Donald Trump to donate $1 billion to his campaign since he is rich. Trump started off in the race with high poll numbers following his official launch then recently started to dwindle down.
