The San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a breakout season in 2012, leading the team to the Super Bowl against the Baltimore Ravens. Even though they lost, they managed to get back in the postseason but were defeated by eventual champions Seattle Seahawks in 2013. Last year was not the same as they failed to make the playoffs, finishing with an 8-8 record.

Coach Jim Harbaugh parted ways with the 49ers after the season and was replaced by another coach named Jim Tomsula. SB Nation reported that Harbaugh had some misunderstanding with the front office as well as some players including Kaepernick. None of the hatred between the parties was made public and the players are very thankful towards their former coach, especially their quarterback.

"He's done numerous things for me, not only as a quarterback, but as a person. I think he's not only a great coach, but a great person and that's what he preaches to the team. Go out, give everything you have to your team, but make sure you're taking care of your family and you're taking care of your teammates and those are the things that are important," the 27-year-old quarterback said.

As for their new coach, Kaepernick said that he is not being asked to do something new, as reported by ESPN. "I would say the biggest thing is I'm being asked to be myself this year. And I don't think anyone knows how to be myself better than me. So it's a comfort zone for me. It's a situation where I'm not being asked to do things outside of my character," Kaepernick answered.

When asked if he was requested to do things in the field he was uncomfortable with in the past, he answered, "Outside of how I would normally handle situations, yeah."

The last question was about him being more in the pocket than not going outside of it. Kaepernick simply answered before thanking the media and leaving, "No. I'm getting at that I was asked to do things outside of my character."

His new coach has good words for the quarterback, saying that he is pleased on their offensive game coming into their third game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals. "We're looking at a guy who's come in and done the things we've been teaching and talking about it and coaching and the things he s been working on," coach Tomsula said via Monterey Herald.

"I'm tickled to death and happy that Colin Kaepernick is our starting quarterback. I'm a big fan," the 47-year-old coach added.
