AMC 'The Walking Dead' Season 4 and 5: New Board and Mobile Games to Continue Robert Kirkman's Franchise
Season 4 of The Walking Dead continues Sunday on AMC with Alone. For some fans, however, one episode a week does not give them enough of their zombie fix. If you are one of those fans, never fear; another deadly game could be heading your way.
Recently, Keith Tralins started a fundraiser on Kickstarter in an effort to raise $81,000 to create The Walking Dead The Prison - Board Game. So far, the fundraiser has raised almost $8,000 from 117 backers. It has 27 days left to reach its goal.
"The Walking Dead The Prison - Board Game features the incredible artwork by series artist Charlie Adlard, and is the stand-alone sequel to the hit 2011 game Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead: The Board Game, published by Z-Man Games," Tralins explains in the fundraiser. "The Walking Dead The Prison - Board Game is licensed with permission from Skybound Entertainment."
Donators will have access to the $49.99 game at a lower price before it hits retailers. Backers whose donations range from $5 to $10,000 will receive awards like his or her name listed in the rule book and website, a The Walking Dead - The Prison Dice Bag backpack, The Walking Dead - The Prison Dice Tray, his or her name on the box and on a playing card and more.
The game is based off of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series rather than the AMC television series.
"After months in the wild and on the run, Rick, Lori, Andrea, Glenn and the rest of the survivors find the ultimate survival spot outside Atlanta, Georgia: a fenced in prison, still in good condition," the game description says. "...they aren't the only survivors seeking refuge inside the prison. With existing tenants (Dexter, Axel, Thomas and Andrew) to handle and new group members to integrate with (Michonne), the challenge of living in the prison isn't just about fighting zombies..."
A The Walking Dead mobile game is also set to debut in October, 2014 alongside season 5 of the show, Variety reports.
"We chose to team up with Next Games because of their outstanding creative and technical talent, as well as a willingness to re-imagine the unique and compelling world of The Walking Dead, which has built a significant and passionate global fan community," Charlie Collier, AMC president, announced.
The Walking Dead's next episode, "Alone," premieres March 9 at 9 p.m.
