Jim Carrey's girlfriend was married to another man at the time of her suicide.

Cathriona White dated Carrey on and off for three years leading up to her death. Her body is still with the coroner's office and will only be released to her husband for repatriation to Ireland, her native country. He has not been identified as of yet.

The coroner's office tells Entertainment Tonight that an autopsy has been complete but the cause of death has been deferred as they wait for toxicology results.

"There is no way that Jim would have taken her out to public places if he thought she was married," a source close to Carreys family tells The Hollywood Reporter. "As far as Jim was concerned, Cat was separated from her husband and was going to start divorce proceedings in December. When people are separated they date or do whatever they need to do."

White's body was found on Monday Sept. 28 in her home with several suicide notes found at the scene including one addressed to the famous movie star.

"The family of Cathriona White sincerely regrets the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister," White's family said in a statement released to the Irish Independent.

"Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family. We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss," the statement continued.

Reports say White may have stolen the prescription pills that were found next to her dead body from Carrey's home. The pills were allegedly prescribed to Carrey, who used a fake name to buy the pills for the sake of his own privacy.

The "Dumb and Dumber" actor released a statement to E! News last Tuesday following her death.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," the statement read. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
