Bill Cosby Sex Assault Case Update: Gloria Allred Seeks Second Deposition With 'Cosby Show' Star
Gloria Allred is requesting that Bill Cosby undergo a second deposition related to the ongoing sexual assault accusations he now faces.
Newsweek reports the legendary comedian was recently grilled for more than seven hours in a case involving Judy Huth, an Allred client who claims that Cosby drugged and sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion more than 40 years ago when she was just 15 years old.
In all, the now 78-year-old Cosby has been accused of similar acts by more than 50 women over a span of more than four decades.
On Friday, testimony given by Cosby in a California courtroom was sealed under protective order, pending a related hearing scheduled for Dec. 22.
In an unrelated proceeding, federal judge Mark Mastroianni also ruled last week that a defamation lawsuit against the "Cosby Show" dad filed by three women, alleging that he drugged and raped them, can move forward.
Linda Traitz, Tamara Green and Therese Serignese allege Cosby's lawyers have not only wrongfully disputed their claims, but also greatly harmed their reputations with their derogatory rhetoric. In petitioning the judge to drop the suit, attorneys for Cosby labeled the accusations "absurd fabrication" and "ridiculous claims."
Though he is now facing three different civil suits, Cosby has never been criminally charged in any of the alleged incidents and has steadfastly maintained his innocence.
As many as 35 of his alleged victims recently posed for a New York magazine cover story, in which many recounted the abuse and suffering they were forced to endure at the hands of the famed entertainer.
In the days leading up to last week's hearing, Allred told CNN that Cosby should prepare himself for what she hinted would be a grueling experience.
"Mr. Cosby, I'm really looking forward to seeing you in person at this deposition," she told CNN. "He needs to get ready."
