WWE Monday Night, Oct 12 Recap: John Cena, Kane, Dudley Boyz, New Day All Emerge Victorious
John Cena arrived from halfway across the world just in time to protect his home turf during Monday night's WWE Raw U.S. Open showdown against Dolph Ziggler.
According to WWE, fresh off his transcontinental flight from Saudi Arabia, Cena somehow found the strength and wherewithal to outlast Ziggler, apparently still shaken from his split with girlfriend Lana, who is now engaged to Rusev.
The turning point of the match came when Cena somehow managed to overcome a poke to the eyes and subsequent sleeper hold. He was able to recover and administer his own Attitude Adjustment on Ziggler.
Proving that no man can truly have it all, Rusev's bliss certainly proved to be short-lived. Ryback thrashed him from pillar to pillar in a mano a mano showdown that left little doubt as to which man truly owned the night. To add insult to injury, Summer Rae was there to taunt and ridicule the Bulgarian Brute as only she can.
The night also witnessed Kane descending from the comfy confines of his corporate suite to take on the always rugged Seth Rollins in a no-holds barred Lumberjack encounter. The Big Red Machine ended all the drama with a signature Tombstone, surviving a brutal attack by New Day along the way.
In double-team action, New Day held on against Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton, as the advantage in the fight alternated back and forth from the very onset of the match. Meanwhile, The Dudley Boyz also proved victorious, focusing their tag-team effort solely on destroying Viktor, and keeping Konnor completely sidelined.
In other action, King Barrett and Sheamus defeated Cesato and Neville; Intercontinental champ Kevin Owens outlasted Kalisto; Roman Reigns defeated Braun Strowman via count-out; and Brie Bellas and Alicia Fox defeated Divas Champion Charlotte and Becky Lynch.
