Republican 2016 presidential front-runner Donald Trump is slated to host an upcoming episode of "Saturday Night Live."

NBC announced on Tuesday the bombastic real estate mogul will serve as host of the Nov. 7 show, the episode that falls a year and a day before 2016 Election Day.

Trump's SNL hosting gig will come during TV sweeps week and on the heels of the recent CNN Republican debate, which registered its best rating in history. His recent appearance on a "Meet the Press" segment also helped the struggling news program attract nearly four million viewers.

Trump last hosted the show in April of 2004, when he bragged about being a "ratings machine" and relentlessly plugged his then-new "The Apprentice" show.

"After just one season, I am about to become the highest-paid television personality in America," Trump boasted during his opening monologue. "And as everyone in this room knows, 'highest-paid' means 'best.'"

Trump was joined onstage by SNL star Darrell Hammond, who served as his "replacement" in mimicking his signature "you're fired" tag-line. In the upcoming show, Trump will be joined by musical performer Sia, who will be making her second appearance on the show.

In the latest Quinnipiac University poll, also released on Tuesday, Trump led the Republican field in the critical state of Connecticut with 34 percent of the vote, compared to his closest competitor Ben Carson with just 14 percent. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina was the only other candidate registering in double digits with 11 percent.

Proving to be as much of a polarizing figure as ever, Trump also polled at the top of the field on the "no way" list among Republican candidates, with one-fourth of all GOP voters insisting they would "definitely not" cast their vote for him.
