Famous Latinas Paulina Rubio, Thalía and Lucero are all currently rumored to be returning to the small screen in telenovelas, but not all the rumors are true.

According to TVyNovelas, Rubio may be connected to the upcoming Televisa project from producer Ignacio Sada. The producer is working on the remake of "Simplemente María," which has already cast Claudia Alvarez, José Ron and Ferdinando Valencia in lead roles.

Rubio is rumored to be singing a reinterpretation of the telenovela's theme song, as well as playing a supporting role. The last time the singer acted in and sang the theme song for a telenovela was for "Pobre Niña Rica" in 1995.

The singer's most recent role was in 2014 in the comedy series "Jane the Virgin." The 44-year-old star didn't have to work too hard to get the part right since she played herself.

Singer and actress Thalía's involvement in the telenovela "Antes muerta que Lichita" is also central to the telenovela news discussion.

By now fans know that Thalía recorded the theme song for the new telenovela. The star announced the release of the song on Instagram on Monday.

However, that may not be the star's only connection to the telenovela. Producer Rosy Ocampo explained that there is an offer currently on the table for the superstar to make an appearance in "Antes muerta que Lichita."

"She is analyzing possibilities," Ocampo said. "Nothing would give us more pleasure than having her in the novela."

Ocampo also revealed that the singer was invited to record the theme for the telenovela because the telenovela's star Maite Perroni is busy recording her upcoming album, Radio Fórmula reported.

Also making headlines is Latin American sweetheart Lucero. The actress and singer was recently rumored to be making a telenovela return, but it turns out the rumors were not completely true.

The star is getting together with her "Soy tu dueña" costar Fernando Colunga for another project. Recently, it was revealed that the reunion will actually be for an episode of the Lucero's show "Qué Onda, Lucero?" Lucero and Colunga will discuss their time working together in the episode, which will be dedicated to the telenovela, TVyNovelas reported.

"For me it is really important to have a program that could be aired online and on the radio, and especially made for my fans," Lucero said.
