A growing number of Hispanic advocacy groups are petitioning NBC to rescind the invite extended to 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to host an episode of "Saturday Night Live" during Sweeps season.

TMZ reports the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda is spearheading the movement to remove Trump as the slated host of the Nov. 7, scheduled telecast.

"They're going after NBC, saying, 'We are appalled that you would enable Trump's hateful speech for nothing [more] than a ratings ploy and ask that you rescind the SNL invitation,'" a source said.

Almost from the moment he first made his run for the Oval Office official, Trump has offended many Latino voters with his overly tough stance on immigration, which recently included the boast if elected president he could easily rid the country of as many as 11 million immigrants through deportation in less than two years.

In the speech officially announcing his candidacy last June, Trump branded Mexicans as criminals and rapists.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," he said. "They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists."

Later, Trump doubled down on his contention, adding that he didn't feel the need to apologize for what he categorized as the truth.

"I said tremendous crime is coming across," he said. "Everybody knows that's true. And it's happening all the time. So, why, when I mention, all of a sudden I'm a racist. I'm not a racist. I don't have a racist bone in my body."

In a recent Fox News national poll, Trump led a crowded GOP field with 24 percent of the vote, a point ahead of the surging Ben Carson. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is the only other candidate to draw at least double-digit support at 10 percent. Marco Rubio stood at 9 percent, and Jeb Bush clocked in at 8 percent.
