Five Nights at Freddy's News: FNAF World RPG Brings Cute, Fun Tone
The first teaser for Scott Cawthon's upcoming RPG, Five Nights at Freddy's World, has been released, and it looks a lot different than most fans probably expected.
Last year, Five Nights at Freddy's was a massive success, spawning endless "Let's Play" videos online. The point-and-click survival horror game put players in the role of a security guard desperately trying to live out the night at a kid's restaurant filled with murderous animatronic puppet animals.
The main allure of FNAF was the "jump-scare" that ended the game if Freddy or one his terrifying friends were able to reach the player before daylight.
After three sequels and a movie announcement, game creator Cawthon told fans he would be releasing a Freddy-based RPG for PC and mobile devices.
Cawthon previously promised that Five Nights at Freddy's World would not be a horror game, but few predicted the bright, cutesy tone that the trailer brings.
FNAF World seems to be a traditional, Final Fantasy-esque adventure. Using a party of four characters, players engage in turn-based combat with robot enemies using attacks such as "Pizza Wheel" and "Jumpscare."
Speaking of characters, the teaser promises a load of them. There's Freddy Fazbear, Bony, Chica, Foxy, Mangle, Toy Freddy, Phantom Freddy, Withered Freddy, Nightmare Freddy, and even Crying Child.
The game's happy atmosphere has garnered mixed reactions from the FNAF community. Some believe the creator, who has trolled his audience in the past, is pulling a prank.
In support of this theory, Cawthrone briefly posted a dark and creepy pic on the game's website, showing fan favorite character Mangle (featured at the end of the trailer) seemingly dead and hanging from the ceiling with the message "See what you've all done?"
Fans should soon find out what all this is about. In the meantime, check out the trailer below for Five Nights At Freddy's World, due for release in 2016.
