"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has broken yet another record a month before its release.

Variety is reporting that the film has already made $50 million in advance ticket sales. The trade magazine obtained the details from Fandango. "The Force Awakens" is now the biggest preseller in the history of the ticketing company, beating out previous record holder "The Hunger Games."

According to the report, most IMAX theaters are sold out, and many theater chains are adding showtimes due to high demand. However, there are still a number of tickets left.

With these record-breaking numbers, the film will most likely break the December opening weekend record as well. No film has ever opened to more than $100 million in December due to the competitive season. The current record holder for December is "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," which opened to $85 million three years ago.

Still, it is hard to predict the actual opening weekend numbers, especially with two other movies opening on the same day and many holdovers, which are likely to steal audiences away.

Even so, most pundits are currently predicting the film to open with at least $200 million, which is very likely if the number of presales continues to rise.

The question remains how much Disney will deliver, and if the film meets expectations. Most fans came away disappointed by the prequels and are expecting better films, especially since the original three actors from Episodes 4 through 6 are back, and J.J. Abrams is directing. However, Disney has been very secretive about the project, even stopping awards organizations from screening it.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is expected to open in 4,000 theaters on Dec. 17. The film stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
