'Star Wars Episode 7' Rumors, Cast & Spoilers: New Teaser Unveils New Footage [WATCH]
Disney continues to unveil new footage of the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
The company released a new clip at the American Music Awards at the end of a weekend that features a ton of new imagery from the hotly anticipated movie.
The new clip features Finn and Rey running away as an entire desert region gets bombed.
The company also released a 30 second teaser in which audiences get to see Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, give orders to a Red Squad and Blue Squad. It is a bit of a reminder from the original trilogy especially in "A New Hope." In the new shots there is a character that looks like Sullustan Nien Nunb, who was in "Return of the Jedi" and co-piloted the Millennium Falcon with Lando Calrissian. Perhaps this creature could be from Nien Nunb's species.
There are also new shots of the new droid BB8 stumbling and rolling around the Millennium Falcon as Daisy Ridley's Rey pilots the ship. There are also a number of shots of John Boyega's Finn fighting Stormtroopers with a blue lightsaber. There are also glimpses of Han Solo and Chewbacca surrendering and an air fight sequence.
Disney has already released six other spots and all of them have shown new footage, making fans even more excited for the new film.
As hype continues to build, the film continues to break records. To date, "The Force Awakens" has already made $50 million in pre-sale tickets and could even go higher as there are still 25 days left until the release of the film. There is also an expectation that the film will break the box office record as well as the December record, which is currently held by the first Hobbit film.
"The Force Awakens" also stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill and Max Von Sydow. The movie was directed by J.J. Abrams and is being composed by Oscar winner John Williams. The film is set for release on Dec. 18 and is expected to play in more than 4,000 theaters.
