Premio Lo Nuestro 2016 Nominees: Romeo Santos, Juan Luis Guerra Lead
The nominees for Premios Lo Nuestro 2016 have been announced, and Latin music's biggest male superstars are leading the categories.
According to the list released by Univision, leading with seven nominations is bachata superstar Romeo Santos, who was one of the biggest winners at the 2015 ceremony earlier this year.
Santos is up for Artist of the Year and Tropical Artist of the Year and has three nominations under Song of the Year category alone.
Following with six is music legend Juan Luis Guerra, whose album "Todo Tiene Su Hora" is up for Album of the Year and Tropical Album of the Year. Guerra is also up for Tropical Artist of the Year and Tropical Song of the Year.
Music superstar Marc Anthony, rock legends Mana and reggaeton sensation Nicky Jam all snagged five nominations each.
Nicky Jam is up for Urban Artist of the Year. A category that may just about go to anyone with hit makers like Don Omar, Farruko, Wisin, Yandel and J Balvin, who along with Jam won his first Latin Grammy this year, all nominated.
Balvin is also up for Artist of the Year, Urban Song of the Year for "Ay Vamos," and Urban Album of the Year.
While the men do make up plenty of the musicians nominated there are a few female artist up for some big categories.
Sofia Reyes is the only female up for Best New Artist. Chiquis Rivera is nominated for Regional Female Artist of the Year along with Graciela Beltran and Luz Maria.
Up for Female Pop/Rock Female Artist of the Year are big music superstars Gloria Trevi, Natalia Jiménez, Shakira, who is also up for Collaboration of the Year with Maná, and Thalía. The women up for Tropical Female Artist of the Year are Fantine, India, Jessy Rose and Leslie Grace.
Other nominees include Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Luis Coronel, Gerardo Ortiz, Prince Royce, Juan Gabriel, Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, Camila, Jesse & Joy, Chino y Nacho, Gente de Zona and more.
"Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina" will air live from the American Airlines Arena in Miami on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016.
