Viola Davis and others gets Golden Globe nod for acting parts, but many shows unrecognized. While "Birdman," the 2014 American arthouse black comedy film by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu, squawked loudest in the 72nd Golden Globes nominations leading the competition with seven nods including Best Picture, there's much to be said on the small screen as well.
Shonda Rhimes' encore of hit series, 'Scandal,' 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'How to Get Away with Murder,' lit Thursday evening on fire. Each show demonstrated that Rhymes has no qualms about teasing fans, and leaving them to chill over the cold winter break with finales that include abduction, sex, betrayal, plot twists, murder and people being called "b*tch babies."
"I dove at [this role]. I love the fact that she's messy and mysterious. She's not necessarily nurturing and 'Come sit on my lap so I can talk to you, baby,'" Davis says during a summer 2014 Television Critics Association interview. "She's a woman. She's sexual. She's vulnerable. I wanted a character that took me out of my comfort zone."
