5 Best Romantic Comedy Movies That Never Get Old
It might probably be true that to get someone to fall in love with you is to make them laugh. While tucking in your warm blankets this holiday season, you might get the feeling of turning on the TV and seeing some romantic comedy films.
From the classic “When Harry Met Sally” to the untraditional love story of “Chasing Amy,” here’s a list of romantic comedy films you might enjoy. As they say, classic never gets old.
When Harry Met Sally
Can men and women really ever just be friends? When Harry Burns and Sally Albright first met, Harry argued that men and women cannot be friends simply because sex will always get in the way.
But aside from proving the theory that two people of different genders are incapable of platonic friendships, the sweet “How We Met” interludes are also something to watch this film for. As per MentalFloss, Director Rob Reiner interviewed couples about how they fell in love and hired actors to tell their stories on the film.
50 First Dates
A movie with Adam Sandler is always one with a good laugh, but “50 First Dates” is kind of a tear-jerking one. It will make you believe that love conquers all, nonetheless. Even if she constantly forgets about you.
Drew Barrymore plays Lucy Whitmore, a woman suffering from severe short-term memory loss due to a brain damage. She has no idea that she has been reliving the day over and over again as she always forget what happened the following day, including meeting Henry Roth (Sandler).
Clueless
Similar to Jane Austen’s “Emma,” Cher Horowitz enjoys being single and make it her “project” to match make people. Totally clueless, her idealism lead her to lose sight of her own purpose in life until she realizes that she is falling in love with her stepbrother!
Pretty Woman
This can be compared to the likes of “Cinderella,” but the thing is … the princess is a prostitute. Starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, “Pretty Woman” shows a call girl and a john falling in love with each other which eventually changes their respective outlooks about life. That is, sex is business, at least for her, and everything is business, for him.
Chasing Amy
Here is another one of your untraditional fairy tales. A comic book artist fell in love with a lesbian and the rest is history.
Chasing Amy is about a woman who identifies herself as a lesbian until she met a straight guy vying for her love and attention. In a deeper sense, however, as per CinemaBlend, this film tells about love and acceptance.
