Google Next 2017: Google To Be The First To Provide Cloud Services On New Intel Xeon Processors
Google Next, their annual cloud conference concluded recently. Google executives spoke a lot about their vision for Google Cloud services and also detailed as to what the future awaits for cloud services amongst other things. Google will most likely be coming out with some product announcements and other services to suit all types of users.
The event took place in San Francisco and played host to a lot of new features integrated to Google Cloud services, mostly in security and computing sector. Senior Vice-President for technical infrastructure at Google, Urs Hölzle inaugurated the event highlighting the current statistics claiming that Google Cloud Services had reached a daily influx of a billion users every day. Per reports from the TechCrunch, new features were unveiled on the second day of the conference.
Among other things, Mr. Hölzle also said that Google will soon set up Google Cloud Platform(GCP) regions in new locations like the Netherlands, Canada and the state of California in 2017 and 2018. In-depth reports from the TechRepublic revealed that Google will soon be the first to provide cloud services on the new enterprise-grade Intel Xeon Skylake processors. Google will also increase the discounts for those customers committing to a set period, which is something common for Adobe's creative suite, but without any discounts.
Annual or three-year commitment plans will be discounted by up to 57% when users agree to the service on a volume-based subscription. The following service will also mean that a possible machine change at any given time will be unaffected. New tools like Data Loss Prevention are now being introduced where the API will let users check for sensitive data like credit cards, other personal credentials and then take proper actions for it.
