Travel ban and quarantine forced people to stay at home as the cases of COVID-19 are overwhelmingly increasing. As social beings, humans will find a way to communicate or make use of their time. To distract themselves once in a while to the crisis the world is facing, some resort to watch their favorite movies and shows.
Netflix offers a wide range of TV shows from different countries. One of these is Spanish TV shows in 2020 that you might want to consider watching. To give you a glimpse of the story of these shows, I listed four of the worth watching Spanish TV shows with narratives.
El Chapo
This is the real-life story of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. It comprises 3 seasons with 35 episodes showing the life of "El Chapo" from when he was a member of Guadalajara Cartel until when he became involved in the Sinaloa Cartel that leads to his downfall.
El Chapo was considered one of the most influential drug traffickers in the world. Being a member of an international syndicate, Sinaloa Cartel gave rise to his fame.
But not all success is long-lived especially if obtained from illegal activities. After his second escape from prison on July 11, 2015, El Chapo was caught for the third time on January 8, 2016. Sentenced for life in prison and forfeiting assets worth more than $12.6 billion, the show offers closure to their audience.
La Niña
La Niña is far from the usual meaning we usually encounter which has something to do with weather disturbances. La Niña translated in Spanish means "The Girl".
This Colombian film is also based on a real-life story. This is about a girl who was forcibly recruited by guerillas. This girl had seen wars first-hand and was forced to use ammunition. Upon the reflection of her situation, she managed to escape from the guerillas after many years.
Now she will be facing the process of reintegration to the society which she must face, adding the pressure to mend her relationship to her family.
El Barco
If you are a big fan of sci-fi adventures, you will certainly like El Barco.
If you are familiar with Noah's Ark, you will immediately get the idea. But unlike Noah's Ark, this show does not involve religious concepts. The flood was introduced when a fatal accident happened at the particle accelerator in Geneva, Switzerland.
The barque school-ship Estrella Pollar students are now isolated from the world submerged in water. Aside from the crisis they need to face from isolation, they realized that they are not the sole entities present.
