Packers: Davante Adams Wants to Play With Derek Carr on Raiders, But Aaron Rodgers Thinks There Was 'Disconnect'
NFL wide receiver, Davante Adams, has ended his journey with the Packers, because of the pay, and Raiders' quarterback Derek Carr.
According to NFL Network, the Raiders and Adams agreed to terms on a five-year contract, amounting to $141.25 million or $28.5 million per year, per Clutch Points.
The news of Adam's contract with the Raiders came after reports surfaced that the wide receiver and Packers did not come to a close in their negotiations, according to Sporting News. Per NFL rules, stipulate players who receive the franchise can be paid 120 percent of their salary from the previous year.
This means that from $16.79 million, his 2022 salary could be $20.145 million.
However, money was not the main issue why Adams decided to leave the Packers.
According to sources, the Packers are willing to pay Adams as much as the amount the Raiders offered him, per Clutch Points.
The source then revealed that the "ultimate" reason why Adams transferred to Raiders was that he wanted to play with the team's quarterback, Derek Carr. The said player was reportedly one of his best pals and they go way back during their college days in Fresno State.
According to reports, Carr had been urging Adams to transfer to Raiders since last season.

Carr and Adams played for Bulldogs during their college days, Touch Down Wire reported. The two became a "formidable force" of the team in 2012-2013.
During that time, Carr threw 87 touchdown passes to 15 interceptions and Adams caught 233 passes for 3, 031 yards and 38 touchdowns.
in a 2014 interview, Adams described Carr as a "real good guy."
"He has a really good personality. He's a guy whose spirit keeps everybody up all the time," Adams said during the 2014 scouting combine.
The wide receiver added that the coaching staff also trusted the quarterback a lot and that Carr called a lot of the plays, per Touch Down Wire.
"I was fine with him being Batman - that's what they called him - and I'll be Robin if it gets me to the combine and gets me to the next level," Adams further noted.
Meanwhile, Carr described Adams as "the best." The quarterback also defended Adams' speed and that the wide receiver has one of the best vertical leaps, per Touch Down Wire.

Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, was not surprised with Adams' decision to leave their team, per Clutch Points.
According to sources, Rodgers was aware of the wide receiver's "disconnect" with the team. The insider also further noted that the quarterback also knew about Adams' move even before he signed his new contract with the Packers.
However, another source revealed that Rodgers still hoped and believed that Davante Adams would remain with the Packers in 2022.
