Ron DeSantis Losing to Donald Trump in Polls But More Popular With Rich Republicans
The polls do not look very good for Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as he continues trailing former President Donald Trump in the polls. There is a piece of good news for him, though, as richer Republicans, the millionaires and the billionaires, actually prefer him over Trump.
According to the Independent, CNBC held its latest Millionaire survey and many Republicans with qualifying millionaire status support DeSantis over the former president in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The millionaire poll comes as DeSantis struggles in various independent polls which show Trump having wide leads over the controversial Florida governor, who had been floundering in these polls since his candidacy announcement. In some polls, Trump even leads him by around 40 points.
However, this same poll also showed that DeSantis's lead with millionaires is slipping as Trump gains even more momentum, even among richer Republicans. The poll found that 32% of Republican millionaires are going with DeSantis, while 28% of qualified Republican millionaires say that they are voting for Trump.
If compared with last year's millionaire poll results, DeSantis had 54% and Trump had 17%. This means that while DeSantis is still in the lead, Trump has already gained on him despite his recent classified documents indictment.
Ron DeSantis Continues To Struggle Against Donald Trump
DeSantis's policies have proven popular with millionaires at first, though he recently alienated some business owners and farmers in Florida with his recent migrant policies that are threatening job shortages with his migrant worker ban.

Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary polls even as we reach mid-June. However, as USA Today pointed out, Ron DeSantis did get a bit of a gain as he was polling at 21.4%, an increase of less than a percentage point. Trump also dropped to 53.4%, which saw his polling numbers drop by less than a percentage point. Even though there is a bit of an increase for DeSantis, he still has a lot of things to do to catch up to the recently-indicted billionaire real-estate developer.
However, it seems that his policies might not be helping, especially on a wider level outside of Republican voters. Nazis openly showing support for him, his "culture war" against Disney, his "war on woke," his racial agenda, and his migration policies have not endeared him with a national audience.
Tony Awards Mocked Ron DeSantis, Called Him a 'Grand Wizard'
Ron DeSantis was recently mocked during theater's biggest night, the Tony Awards as a teacher from Plantation, Florida named Jason Zembuch Young received the 2023 Excellence in Theater Education Award from actress Denee Brown.
Florida Politics reported that Benton, a Florida native herself, joked about DeSantis and his policies that are considered restrictive to African Americans, Hispanics, and LGBTQ people. "And while I am certain that the current Grand Wizard, I'm sorry, excuse me, Governor of my home state of Florida will be changing the name of this following town immediately," said Benton, a Tony nominee herself. The joke drew raucous applause from the crowd. A Grand Wizard is the leader of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and is a reference to DeSantis's recent policies.
