With the 2014 MLB All-Star Game completed, a lot of attention is being paid to league front offices. We're nearly 100 games into the season and the trade deadline is July 31. Injuries, disappointing performances, and bad decisions call for last minute trades to help improve rosters.

There's only two weeks remaining until the MLB trade deadline, so here is a look at some of the biggest news and headlines that could affect teams and trades:

Yankees Need a Pitcher

It's amazing that the New York Yankees are in third place and just three games back of the Baltimore Orioles for first place. They are only two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for second place. But they've had a very unlucky season when it comes to their pitching staff. Iván Nova had to undergo Tommy John Surgery and Masahiro Tanaka could soon follow.

So who could the Pinstripes bring in for support for? The big name is already off the board, Jeff Samardzija. There's still a good chance they could trade for Cliff Lee or Cole Hamels from the Philadelphia Phillies. Ian Kennedy could be a possibility as well.

David Price Is The Biggest Name Remaining

It feels like Price has been on the trade block for months now. While it's unlikely the Rays will trade Price to the Yankees, Orioles or Red Sox because of divisional play, they would definitely get a lot back in return if they did so.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Price joining the Cubs has a good chance of happening. The Cubs just lost their ace pitcher Jeff Samardzija, they play in a separate league, and they can certainly afford his salary. The Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians are also in the David Price sweepstakes. The Anaheim Angels have reportedly backed out and are not placing any bids for the 28-year-old pitcher.

Royals Need Power

Remember the last time the Kansas City Royals made the playoffs? It's been a long time, 29 years to be exact. This season, the Royals have been playing pretty well and are ranked second in the American League Central. The biggest thing holding them back has been the long ball as they rank dead last in home runs hit with just 55. For some perspective, the Blue Jays have hit 116 so far.

Options are very limited for management, but one underrated opportunity could be Jonny Gomes. Gomes, who has Portuguese roots, is currently with the Boston Red Sox and has hit 20 home runs or more three times in a season before.

Marlins Trading Slugger?

Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who has Puerto Rican heritage in his background, has been a great player for the Miami Marlins since joining the team in 2010. While his batting average remains subpar, he always finds a way to knock the ball over the fence consistently. Stanton has hit 138 home runs with the Marlins and is just 24 years old.

The team has been receiving many calls from multiple teams from around the league. The St. Louis Cardinals have shown interest as have the Boston Red Sox. If a team is going to acquire Stanton, they are going to have to give up a lot of value in return.
