Well, here we are again. It's September, and football fans around the world are getting ready for the sport they love. The big question is, will they be more anxious and excited for the NFL season or the college football season? According to ESPN, the NFL is the most popular sport in America, while college football ranks third behind Major League Baseball.

That shouldn't come as a big surprise, because the NFL is a lot more organized and offers a better product for fans. It seems as if every year a BCS National Championship is "vacated" or a player scandal is going on. Not to mention the ridiculous overtime rules.

But we'll cut college football a break and not even include those infractions in our top 5. Without further delay, here are the top five reasons why the NFL is better than college football.

5. Blowouts

Does the NFL have blowouts? Yes, but for college football fans, blowout games are the norm. It's amazing how the schedulers make two teams play one another who have no business being on the same field. Most of these college football games are over by halftime. It's not much of a surprise when there's so many different conferences, programs and skill levels. In the NFL, it's a far more level playing field, which results in a significant less amount blowouts for fans.

4. More Balance

The NFL has a draft, where the worst teams get the best players. College football has recruitment, where the best players continue to go to best teams over and over again. So what if Alabama and LSU lose their best players to the draft? They can simply recruit the best high school players from around the country.

The NFL has two magic words- salary cap. No matter how successful a team is, they can't overspend past a certain amount the NFL mandates. The draft and salary cap provide enormous balance and stability for the NFL. In college football, the best teams just get provided with the best players, while the worst teams get no relief.

3. Better Players

This one isn't debatable. The best players from around the world eventually play in the NFL. Better passers, faster players, stronger lineman and more athletic wide receivers highlight the NFL. College football has many talented players, but most will not be playing in the NFL. Why favor a league with subpar talent over a league with the best skill in the world?

2. Long Lasting Players

Green Bay Packers fans got to watch Brett Favre for 16 years. Indianapolis Colts fans got to watch Peyton Manning for 14 years. It's a huge advantage being an NFL fan because you get to watch your favorite players play for your favorite team for a long period of time.

In college football, if a high profile player stays in college for more than even two years, it's a huge surprise. Imagine being an NFL fan, and your entire roster changes every two years? That's rough to think of.

1. The Games are Settled on the Field, Not a Computer

The best thing about being an NFL fan is that the best team always wins the Super Bowl. Because of a perfectly set up playoff system, deserving teams always get a chance to prove themselves by going undefeated in the postseason.

As for college football, computers determine the "rankings." These rankings are based on strength of schedule, wins, margin of victory and more. Teams will play each other in bowl games based on the computer rankings. In the end, NFL Champions are based on facts and performance, while college football is based on opinions and computer rankings.
