The Houston Rockets will reportedly considering trading Terrence Jones this season in the hope of getting a key player, while the New Orleans Pelicans might shop Ryan Anderson to improve their roster depth.

The Rockets tried to make big moves during the offseason, but they failed to land a superstar despite making strong bids to acquire New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony and Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh.

Despite failing to catch a big fish during the offseason, the Rockets are still optimistic that they can acquire another superstar to pair up with Dwight Howard and James Harden.

According to Mary Stevens of Basketball Insiders, Jones will likely be the odd man out in the event the Rockets find a chance to acquire another superstar, especially if the 22-year-old power forward continues to play well for Houston.

"If he [Jones] continues to play at a high level and keeps on improving, his trade value will continue to rise and the Rockets could use him in a deal for the third star they desire," Stevens wrote.

Jones, the 18th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, averaged 16.7 points to go along with 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in their first three games this season.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans are also expected to be very active on trade front this season as they are aiming to improve their roster, which is currently being built around Anthony Davis.

Stevens believes that Ryan Anderson will likely be dealt before this season's trade deadline. The 26-year-old became dispensable after the Pelicans acquired starting center Omer Asik in a trade during the offseason.

Trading Anderson will give the sharp-shooting forward the playing time that he might demand, while the Pelicans will get key assets in return to improve their rotation.

"The best thing for both parties may be to trade Anderson and get a couple of good pieces in return, which can strengthen the Pelicans' depth," Stevens wrote. "Right now, the Pelicans have a huge drop off after their first six players, so moving Anderson for several pieces could help the team at multiple positions."
