Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon star in upcoming comedy "Hot Pursuit."

The stars are hilarious in the new trailer. Witherspoon plays a cop who has to protect Vergara, the wife of a dead drug cartel boss, Perez Hilton reports.

"Hot Pursuit" is set to be released on May 8.

Reese told People magazine how it is to work with Vergara.

"Literally every person stares at [Sofia]," Witherspoon said. "Men fall on the floor; women drop their purses. It's like a commercial! Her hair is in slow motion."

Reese said, "Her character is so sexy and suave, and I'm so dorky," adding that they laughed so hard during the shoot that they struggled with some scenes.

Sofia Vergara was born and raised in Colombia to a farmer dad and housewife mother, according to IMDb. The "Modern Family" actress studied pre-dentistry but started a career in modeling and TV after being discovered by a photographer on the beach.

She became a runway model by the age of 23. Later, the Colombian actress co-hosted a travel show called "Fuera de Serie," which gave her exposure in the United States.

Her beakthrough role was as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit comedy show "Modern Family," where she is now TV's top paying actress.

Reese Witherspoon was born in Louisiana to a registered nurse mom and military surgeon dad.

Witherspoon was introduced to the entertainment industry at the age of seven when she began modeling. She appeared on several TV commercials and placed first in a 10-State Talent Fair.

The actress put her acting career on hold after high school to attend Stanford University where she majored in English literature. She then stopped her college career and accepted two roles in films that would later open doors for bigger acting opportunities.

Witherspoon's breakthrough role was as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy "Legally Blonde."
