Season 5 Finale of 'Game of Thrones': Cersei will Beg Forgiveness From High Sparrow in 'Mother's Mercy'
HBO released promotional photos for Sunday's season finale of "Game of Thrones,' an episode titled "Mother's Mercy." It seems that the concluding episode might be thrilling as the penultimate.
"The Dance of Dragons," last week's episode, showed Ramsay's men arrive to Stannis' camp in the dead of night and burn horses and men. Later that episode, Melisandre convinces Stannis to sacrifice his daughter Princess Shireen, burning her alive at the stake so that, God willing, they might find future success. In Doran, Jaime and Myrcella are allowed to return to King's Landing, but only if Trystane accompanies them and is allowed to serve on the small council.
Jon and the wildlings return to the Wall, where they're reluctantly received. Meanwhile, in Meeren, Daenerys is not only surprised to find Jorah at the fight pits, but also a deathly assault by the Sons of the Harpy. When it seems that she might die, Drogon arrives and he burns and shreds on her behalf; then she mounts him and abandons friends to foe.
The photos for the upcoming episode illustrate Cersei on her knees before the High Sparrow, as she likely begs for forgiveness. Cersi is also shown with a warning expression in yet another image. In another photo, Sansa Stark wears a hooded robe and dawns a look of surprise on her alabaster face. In yet another photo, Jaqen, rep for the Many-Faced God, stands in front of the wall of faces, with a judgmental expression on his face.
Samwell and Jon Snow are featured in another image, chatting seriously over a small cup of ale. After abandoned by Daenerys, Tyrion, Jorah and Daario Naharis are seen sitting idly on a set of steps. In the final promo photo, Melisandre is pictured, touching Stannis, likely consoling him after shamelessly setting his daughter ablaze.
The finale of "Game of Thrones" will air on HBO at 10:00 p.m.
