'NCIS' Season 13 Spoilers: Show Execs Hoping for 'Halle Berry' Type Replacement for Michael Weatherly?
With Michael Weatherly's Agent TonyDiNozzo character set to leave the "NCIS" cast at the end of the season, creators of the most popular drama series on TV are rumored to be committed to trying to land a big name star as a new addition for the cast.
Word is producers are hoping to create a measure of excitement for the upcoming 14th season by adding a regular in the form of a film actress looking to make the transition to TV the way Academy Award winner Halle Berry did with "Extant."
Who Will Be Added to the Cast?
While there are few clues as to who might actually end up as a new cast member, the new addition could conceivably be a part of the storyline before the end of this season.
With the series rumored to be set to celebrate its upcoming 300th episode in spectacular fashion, the scene could be set for such a grand entrance.
Taye Diggs to Star in 300th Episode
The "Scope" entitled 300th episode is slated to air on March 15 and will guest-star Taye Diggs as PTSD suffering Marine Sergeant Aaron Davis. As part of his rehab, the character is put through the rigors of a music therapy program that Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is pushing on him in hopes it will help him to recount the details of an unsolved murder.
"For our 300th episode, we needed a guest actor who could proudly portray one of our nation's wounded warriors as well as participate in a very touching musical performance," show director Gary Glasberg said in a statement. "
Between now and then, the "After Hours" themed episode is slated to air this week, which is being billed as a chance to see all the cast's regulars away from the office and in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Part of the plot also finds McGee (Sean Murray) and Deliah (Margo Harshman) arguing about the importance of not discussing work over dinner and DiNozzo boring a date to no end with, yes, talk of the office.
