The Denver Broncos may be in for a rough offseason. The team is now in a serious need of a quarterback for the next season.

There is one high-profile name they can consider, Colin Kaepernick. Back in January, the Browns were mentioned as one of the interested suitors of Kaepernick. Kaepernick’s status with the San Francisco 49ers poses a big question mark, which is something that started back in November.

No Trust, No Glory

The 28-year-old quarterback was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert at the time, ending his three-year reign as a starter for the 49ers. The move ended up stirring up more trouble than good with Kaepernick reacting to it by wanting out of the 49ers.

It turns out that the team wanted Kaepernick to challenge Gabbert in an effort to rejuvenate his fire inside. Unfortunately, that didn’t work and this was where the falling out between the two sides started.

Will the 49ers Budge?

With trust issues in the air, it will be interesting if the Broncos and the 49ers can work out a deal for the services of Kaepernick. Right now, the second round pick of the 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft is expected to be on the 49ers' official roster on April 1 despite reportedly seeking a trade.

But all that may not hinder Kaepernick from possibly moving to another ballclub. The quarterback’s agents have sought permission to negotiate with other teams, but Kaepernick needs to provide written permission to the 49ers first to ensure he doesn’t lose his guaranteed money amounting $11.9 million.

The Cleveland Browns were earlier linked to Kaepernick, but the recent news is that the Browns are not interested in trading for the 49ers quarterback.

Perfect Time to Be a Bronco

Though there were several teams linked to him, the best fit looming for Kaepernick is the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos lost Peyton Manning to retirement and then Brock Osweiler as well, who is now with the Houston Texans. Osweiler reportedly agreed to a $72 million four-year deal with the Texans, forcing the Broncos to aggressively weigh their options to fill up the gaping hole.

"We've now turned our attention to other options at quarterback and are confident that we'll find the right player and person for our team," Broncos general manager John Elway said in a statement.

Aside from Kaepernick, other possible players that the Broncos could go after include veterans such as Ryan Fitzpatrick and Robert Griffin III. But of the options, landing Kaepernick seems to be the best of it all.

However, the Broncos may want to evaluate the 28-year-old quarterback, who is coming off a series of injuries. That includes Kaepernick coming off surgery to repair a torn labrum on his non-throwing shoulder last year plus a couple of medical procedures for his thumb and left knee two months ago.

If all goes well, could a deal be made between the 49ers and the Broncos soon?
