Top 5 Goals of the Copa America Centenario Include Messi's Free Kick Snipe & Clint Dempsey's Header (VIDEO)
The Copa America has reached its semifinal and there have already been a whopping 84 goals through three rounds of play. Some have been of the mundane variety while others have truly been marvels. Here is a look at the very best goals of the tournament so far.
Messi's free kick against Panama
This goal is without a doubt the finest moment of the tournament. Messi's signature curve is on display as he brings it near post with a calmness no one else can match.
Watch his hat trick from that game but keep an eye on goal number two.
Clint Dempsey's header against Ecuador
The Americans have managed a number of pretty goals this tournament, but none was nicer or bigger than Dempsey's emphatic header to set the tone early against Ecuador. His ups are wondrous to behold.
Ayovi's counter attacking goal against Haiti
One of the finest team goals of the tournament sees Ecuador launch a counter from their end against Haiti. Ayovi, who eventually gets the goal lets the pass go past him to another attack that whirls around Haitian defenders, finds himself one-on-one with the keeper and then dishes off for Ayovi to play the ball into an empty net.
Edson Puch's 7-0 goal
The game was already over at 6-0 and yet Chile continued to attack against Mexico, leading to their best goal of the night, a team offensive that moved from the left side of the pitch all the way to the right where Puch ran into the box alone and then flicked a delicate chip over an oncoming Guillermo Ochoa.
Johan Venegas' snipe against Colombia
There have not been many long range goals in this tournament but Venegas' is definitely glorious to behold. Taking the ball on the left wing, he cuts in and then turns around past the defender before launching a glorious shot at the far post for the opening goal of Costa Rica's most memorable game in the tournament.
