Rio Olympics 2016: Brazil vs. Canada Live Stream, Preview, Predictions for Bronze Medal Match
The women's national teams from Brazil and Canada will face off on Friday in the third place game at the Rio Olympics.
The Brazilian side had high hopes in the semifinals as it faced a team it dismantled in the group stage. But the Swedes had a gameplan and stuck to it. Fresh off defeating the United States through defensive frustration, the female side from Sweden executed that plan even more effectively against Brazil forcing penalties and getting through that way.
The female team had been seen as a more likely candidate to lift Olympic gold when compared to the men's side. But the roles have now been reversed with Brazil now seen as a favorite for the Bronze medal.
Now they take on a Canada side that had also been undefeated on its way to the semifinal before losing to Germany. Canada had won all three group games at the start of the tournament, the only team to achieve the feat, but that was not enough to overcome the Germans in a tight semifinal.
Prediction
Brazil atones for the disappointment in the semifinal and destroys Canada 4-0.
Start Time
The match between Brazil and Canada kicks off at 12 p.m. EDT on Friday August 19.
