'The Vampire Diaries' Fans Angry at Nina Dobrev for Abandoning 'Delena' For 'Twilight' Spinoff?; Fans Threatens To Boycott
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is the final season for the series, thus, fans expect that on-screen partners Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore will be reunited to end their cursed love story. However, according to latest news, Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena in the series, will not return for the final season of the show. Fans are shocked and even furious, where there are even followers of the show who are threatening to boycott if the "Delena" love team will not be covered in the last season.
News Every Day reported that Nina Dobrev had more plans to boost her career and one of this is to get roles in movies and not just on the small screen. She is busy promoting her new movie with Vin Diesel "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" and this has taken much of her time. There are even rumors that she is no longer interested in returning for "The Vampire Diaries" because she is planning to take another supernatural role in the sequel of "Twilight."
Australia Network News also reported Nina's loss of interest in playing Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" and said that one of the reasons may be her plans to become the next female lead in "Twilight" opposite Robert Pattinson.
With all these rumors about the show's final season, fans are getting very unhappy about the series especially on Nina Dobrev not considering "The Vampire Diaries" fandom. To make matters worse, Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, may have also lost interest in his longtime on-screen girl with rumored exciting projects headed his way. Ian Somerhalder is expected to join "Fifty Shades Freed" if Jamie Dornan decides to quit the BDSM movie.
Meanwhile, show's creator Julie Plec said that getting Nina back is not exactly their call. She said that Nina could always reprise her role as Elena if she wants to. Therefore, the future of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, it's concluding season, is in the hands of Nina's tight schedule.
