A new trailer for the upcoming Transformers movie was just released, and one of its standouts is an out-of-character Optimus Prime. Normally sporting blue eyes, the Autobot leader appears a bit different than normal in the movie's fifth installment.

Subtitled "The Last Knight", the movie will revolve around Optimus, known as the last Prime in the movie universe, looking for an artifact on Earth. Following the events of 2014's Age of Extinction, wherein Optimus leaves the planet to look for the creators of the Transformers, he finds the dead planet Cybertron and learns that he had a hand in its demise. This leads Optimus to search the artifact that could bring back the planet, and it seems that it is located on Earth.

The trailer shows the encounter that he has with Bumblebee, along with a returning Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager, he literally brought down the yellow Autobot single-handedly. Producing a spike on his arm, he is heard saying "forgive me", suggesting that he does something to his once-comrade. And while the trailer does not refer to the change of his eye color, speculations arise that he could have defected to the Decepticons.

The trailer also featured other recurring characters, like Josh Duchamel as Lt. Col. William Lennox and Tyrese Gibson as Robert Epps (who both appeared in every movie in the franchise so far, except AoE), Stanley Tucci as Joshua Joyce of Kinetic Solutions Inc. (who is responsible for bringing back Megatron in the last film, now known as Galvatron), and the aforementioned Wahlberg. New characters will also be brought in, like Isabela Moner, who plays Izabella and Liam Garrigan as King Arthur. Anthony Hopkins is reportedly part of the cast, yet his role is yet kept under wraps. As Digital Spy adds that Nicola Peltz , who played Cade's daughter Tessa, and her boyfriend, played by Jack Reynor, will not be joining the team.

As for the main plot, there are many speculations that the movie will feature time travel. The Telegraph has confirmed that certain characters from history, like Winston Churchill and the Nazis will be part of the movie, and Garrigan's role as King Arthur also supports this. The trailer also showed glimpses of a building, presumably Churchill's Bleinheim Palace, sporting the Nazi flag, along with some scenes that could be referring to World War 2, which solidifies the time-travel aspect of the film.

Transformers: The Last Knight will hit the theatres on June 23 2017.
