The two-year old "Heroes of the Storm" is getting an internal overhaul. Dustin Browder, director of the game, has announced his departure from the team, and hands the keys over to Alan Dabiri.

According to Venture Beat, Browder has stated that he will be leaving to work on another project for Blizzard Entertainment, which is currently unknown at the moment. He has previously worked on Starcraft 2, being a lead designer, before serving as director to the Massively Online Battle Arena (MOBA) title in 2013.

Dabiri, on the other hand, has been with the project since its inception, serving as a technical director. Being with the company for at least 20 years, he started by working on a Mac port for the original "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans". He then moved on to "Warcraft III", creating its user interface.

According to Polygon regarding the difference between his previous and new responsibilities, Dabiri has stated that while a technical director is focused on the technical aspect of the game, a game director looks into the entire gaming experience.

One of his contributions to the game is the inclusion of the Heroes Brawl mode on late October. In this mode, similar to Overwatch (another Blizzard game), rules change on a weekly basis, bringing in more fun and challenge to players. This was an update of the originally announced Arena mode for the game.

E-sports will be one of Dabiri's focuses in 2017. Wanting to be at par with other MOBA greats like "League of Legends" and "Dota 2", he plans to look for ways to improve its e-sports experience within the game. Match spectating, a tournament draft mode, and hero swap modes are some of the things he is considering to add to accommodate requests by fans of the game.

"Heroes of the Storm" was released in 2015 by Blizzard Entertainment. Played through the company's Battle.net online gaming service, it features characters from popular Blizzard titles like "Diablo", "Starcraft", "Warcraft", "Lost Vikings" and "Overwatch" among others.
