‘Unbreakable 2’ Update: Samuel L. Jackson Is Green Light; Two Studios Clash Over Sequel
Unbreakable was a great film featuring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson as the main characters. The film was shown in 2000 and many were amazed on the concept of 'Unbreakable' that it left many asking for a sequel. Nonetheless, after the recent film of M. Night Shyamalan, "Split," became a hit, the thought really did come to mind. Now, recent updates include Jackson giving a go signal for the sequel and two studios having to collaborate for the film.
According to Game Zone, since the film "Split" takes place in the same time as "Unbreakable," fans could see James McAvoy, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson in the same big screen for the sequel of the 2000 film. In an interview, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that he got a phone call from Shyamalan indicating that there is a possibility of the second film. In a statement, he said that if the "Split" generates good in the market, then "OK, let's put this together" is available for the actor. With that, there is a chance that we see the three fighting with each other or maybe teaming up for something.
Meanwhile, IGN reported that two rival studios are expected to collaborate for the "Unbreakable 2." In their article, since "Unbreakable" is a Disney release, while "Split" was distributed by Universal, the two studios must have to come to terms to be able to have the three actors shown in a single movie. Disney revealed that it expects to work with the Universal and have a share on the profits. Once the two are set for a good deal, the third film of Shyamalan will be set for a release which could excite fans of the two films. It is notable that the "Split" film grossed over $170 million over a $9 million dollar budget. This makes things interesting for the two studio.
Lastly, the director already revealed that he's developing some follow ups for "Split" and could include Mr. Glass.
