Prince Harry and girlfriend Meghan Markle have come a long way within months of their relationship. Reportedly, they are ready to take the next step in the relationship, i.e. getting engaged.

According to Express, Buckingham Palace sources have revealed that Prince Harry is planning to turn her late mother Diana's tiara into an engagement ring. For this, he has asked the permission of his father Prince Charles.

While it was rumored before that Harry is planning to propose Meghan on her birthday, Daily Star has revealed that the actual date is Diana's birthday - July 1. The engagement ring is said to be under development already by the crown jeweler Harry Collins.

A source told Daily Star that following Diana's death, Prince William and Harry were asked to choose some belongings of their mother as keepsakes. William chose Diana's Cartier watch, while Harry picked her sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

However, the brothers made a pact that whoever will get engaged first will have Diana's engagement ring. Of course, it was William and Kate, so Harry is now making a new one with his mother's tiara.

"Harry wants the same sentiment when he proposes to Meghan, so he is working with the jewelers to design something incredible," Daily Star quoted the source. "For Harry, like Wills before him, using his mother's gems means the two loves of his life will forever be linked."

Diana's emerald and diamond headpiece can be worn as a choker also. She first donned the jewelry along with her green gown while she visited Australia with Charles in 1988. Meghan is said to love emeralds so the tiara seems like a good choice.

The source also added that Harry and Meghan talked about marriage and babies with the Prince's friends while they were in Jamaica recently. The couple was attending the wedding of Harry's best pal Tom "Skippy" Inskip in the country.
