Singer Ed Sheeran To Appear In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7
Amid the revelation of "Game of Thrones" coming this July, another news took fans by surprise. It has been confirmed that singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will make an appearance in the upcoming seventh.
According to The Guardian, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will air on July 16. The season is comprised of seven episodes, unlike the usual 10.
"Game of Thrones" showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have revealed at the South By Southwest festival recently that Ed Sheeran is all set to make a cameo. The singer also teased his guest role via Twitter.
The 26-year old posted a news link of his casting on his social media page with a caption that reads "Guess the cat's out the bag." Many are speculating the reason behind this casting.
The showrunners admitted that they were interested in casting Ed Sheeran for quite some time now. Apparently, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in "Game of Thrones", is a big fan of the singer.
"For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, and this year we finally did it," The Guardian quoted Benioff. "This year we finally did it."
Actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in "Game of Thrones", joked at the panel that now she wants Justin Bieber to make a cameo as well. To this Weiss replied that Bieber will make an appearance in season nine, which everyone knows is never going to happen.
Ed Sheeran's appearance won't be the first case for a musician to make a cameo in "Game of Thrones". Coldplay's Will Champion appeared in the infamous "Red Wedding" episode while and Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody has appeared in "Walk of Punishment".
In an interview with IGN, actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos in "Game of Thrones" has stated that the seventh season will see a rise in White Walkers thus more manpower is needed to fight against them. There will be lots of people and situations coming together in the upcoming season.
Cunningham added that it will be fun to work with those actors whom he had only met on the red carpet. Jacob Anderson, who plays the freed slave Greyworm in "Game of Thrones" teased that the season is going to be chaotic and epic.
