Square Enix has ventured to mobile role-playing games (RPG) with their new "Mashiro Witch: Midnight Marchen" game. The new title is filled with magical girls and will be available for iOS and Android users this year. It is free to play but there will be in-app purchases to those who want access to more content.

"Mashiro Witch: Midnight Marchen" is a dark fantasy RPG with a magical setting that involves witches and the world ending. In this game, humans become witches when they have too much negative emotion.

According to Gematsu, this is the root of the destructive magic of the witches. There are "Six Princesses" in the "Princess Banquet" that players will need to face on. Players will play in the perspective of the amnesiac magical girl, Mana Asahina.

In the beginning of "Mashiro Witch: Marchen of Midnight," Mana has no memories of her prior life or the identity of her mother. She joins the academy to look for answers.

Siliconera reports that players can choose Mana's looks and voices. The heroine can either be voiced as cheerful, serious, steadfast, useless, timid, energetic or confident. Each type is voiced by different voice actresses including M. A. O., Ai Kakuma, Rie Takahashi, Nao Toyama, Saori Hayami, Reina Ueda and Sumire Uesaka.

When players find their enemies hard to defeat, they can co-op with other players to vanquish their opponent. Like many Square Enix RPG games, "Mashiro Witch: Marchen of Midnight" is a turn-based game.

The game is made even more interactive as well as players can chat with another player's character while on the road. Furthermore, there are different magical girl outfits, weapons and accessories that players can use in "Mashiro Witch: Marchen of Midnight."

The game for iOS and Android has no definite release date yet in Japan. There is no word as well if "Mashiro Witch: Marchen of Midnight" will be translated in English.
