Fossil Brings Android Wear 2.0 To All Smartwatches
Android Wear 2.0 has only been around for a few weeks now, and if fans don't have the LG Watch Sport or Style, they probably haven't had much experience with it quite yet. Plenty of smartwatch manufacturers have announced plans to upgrade all their existing watches to version 2.0, but so far, no OEM has delivered the update. That's changing very soon.
According to Business News, Fossil will start bringing Android Wear 2.0 to all of their smartwatches (for those following at home, that's the Q Founder, Q Wander, and Q Marshal) starting on March 15th. Not like most of the other manufacturers out there, the Company has committed to bringing the update to all of its watches - and earlier than most. Moto, for instance, Google's premier partner for Android Wear, hasn't committed a firm date to any of its watches, let alone all of them.
As per Android police, Fossil is currently on Twitter telling anyone who will listen that they are in the process of pushing Android Wear 2.0 to all their watches. Apparently, the pace of updating will pick up by March 15 and will be done by the end of March. It's been already told to a user to start checking for updates but Wear 2.0 isn't anything to be excited about.
The good side is all of Fossil's existing Android Wear devices will be getting the update. That includes the newer Q Marshal, Q Wander, and Q Founder 2.0. The original Q Founder is also receiving the update too. Android Wear 2.0 adds better watch face selection and customization, an on-device Play Store client, and revamped notifications that are widely more difficult to use for the user, because at a time it delivers so much to operate that anyone can get confused.
The release of Android Wear 2.0 comes just after a few months when Apple dropped watch OS 3, the first major overhaul of its wrist-worn operating system. In both cases, users get more features, streamlined experiences. It is clear that customers don't want to spend tons of time scrolling through long menus and interacting with apps on their wrists.
