Xbox One News: More Than 120,000 Energizer Xbox One Controller Chargers Recalled For Possible Burn Hazard
More than 120,000 Energizer Xbox One 2X Smart Chargers are being recalled for possible burn hazard. Authorities encourage owners of the Energizer Xbox One controller chargers that were manufactured in China to contact the Performance Designed Products (PDP) to get refunds.
NBC New York reports that the manufacturer has received more than 20 complaints of the Energizer Xbox One controller chargers. They detailed that the reports include burning odor smell, plastic cover deformities and overheating.
To specify the alert only covers the Energizer Xbox One controller chargers that were sold in the US from February 2016 to last month. These devices were sold for around $40 and could be bought at retailers including GameStop and Best Buy.
According to GameSpot, around 10,000 Energizer Xbox One controller chargers were also sold in neighboring countries including Mexico and Canada. The recall also detailed that nobody has been hurt by the defunct controllers so far. The voluntary product recall is a precaution for possible burn hazard from overheating based on the reports the PDP has received.
For those who don't know, the Energizer Xbox One controller chargers have a black plastic covering with a label from Energizer. The affected chargers can hold two controllers and have the code 048-052-NA printed on the back. Consumers are encouraged to stop using the hazardous controllers as it can overheat Xbox One controllers that could possibly result in overheating and burns.
Those who want refunds for the affected Energizer Xbox One controller chargers should contact the PDP instead of returning it to the retailers where they bought them. The PDP will provide full refunds for the affected chargers.
